Buhoma Lodge

Highlights:
Located in the Buhoma, the northern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable NP, this small boutique lodge is one of only 2 lodges within the National Park, making it an excellent base for National Park activities such as park crossings, visiting the Batwa tribe and gorilla trekking. The Lodge is characterized by its treehouse like cottages surrounded by nature that gives its guests the feeling of adventure and excellent views of the forest. From the main building and the comfortable cottages you have a fantastic view of the canopy of the “Impenetrable Jungle”. Whether in the rising fog or in the bright sunshine, Buhoma offers a magical atmosphere. Early in the morning, the melliflous twitter of the forest birds makes the ambience spiffy! A massage in the lodge’s own small spa area is included for each guest and this is especially thrilling after the gorilla trek. The lodge is ideal for those interested in the gorilla trekking experience, since it is close to the area where gorilla tracking begins.

Main Building:
The main building consists of two floors, a reception, a souvenir shop and a small spa area on the ground floor and bar, lounge and restaurant in the upper area. The open and comfortable lounge which is furnished with rustic, wooden furniture, made out of local materials, which are generously equipped with cozy pillows offers wonderful views of the Bwindi forest invites you to linger and relax after an exciting gorilla tracking. In the hanging fire pit in the lounge a fire is ignited in the evening, which warms wonderfully on cool evenings. On the lawn in front of the main building, a campfire can also be light up. Wi-Fi is available in the central area. There’s also a central area for recharging cameras at the lodge.

Guest Accommodation:
Perched on the hillside behind the main building, each of the ten cozy chalets offers superb views of the dense jungle and treetops of the Bwindi Impenetrable forest. The chalets, partially accessed by wooden walkways or stairs from the main building, were built using local materials. Each chalet has a private terrace that invites you to enjoy some sunshine and relax after a long and exciting day. The cottages are furnished with individually designed wooden furniture and feature large panorama windows to provide for the scenic views of nature. The private bathrooms have shower, bath, sink, toilet, running hot and cold water and solar powered lamps. There’s a spectacular stone built shower that supplies hot water. The family or honeymoon chalet at Buhoma lodge also has a separate lounge with an open fireplace. All rooms are insect proof and contain safety boxes.

Meals:
Three meals daily: breakfast before or after the morning activities, lunch at the lodge or packed as a packed lunch for longer activities, dinner between 6pm and 9pm, as requested by the clients. 3-course lunch and 4-course dinner with choices, as well as a selection of international wines and other alcoholic beverages are offered at the lodge bar. Water is always available during the meals and in the rooms. Personal dietary wishes and dietary requirements will certainly be considered (with advance notice). Hot drinks (tea and coffee) are available throughout the day and, if desired, coffee and tea are served in the cottages in the morning at Buhoma lodge.

Activities:

Since Bwindi is a famous destination, a number of activities have been developed for you, during the time of stay. These include: Gorilla tracking, Bird watching, Nature and waterfalls walks, Mountain Hiking, Mountain biking, Community walks and Cultural experiences.
